Torrevieja City Hall has opened applications for a benefit of 450 euros for the birth or adoption of a child

The City Hall of Torrevieja has opened applications for municipal assistance in the amount of 450 euros in connection with the birth or adoption of a child. Interested families will be able to submit applications up to and including September 2, 2026, both in person and online. This benefit applies to births and adoptions that occurred between January 1 and December 31, 2025. In case of multiple births, you can apply for a benefit of 450 euros for each child born.

The main requirement is to live in Torrevieja for at least three years

One of the main requirements set out in the advertisement is the mandatory residence in Torrevieja for at least three continuous years immediately preceding the date of application.

In addition, applicants must:

  • be Spanish citizens or foreigners legally residing in Spain, and in the latter case have NIE;
  • be over 18 years of age or legally emancipated;
  • be registered in Torrevieja for at least three consecutive years;
  • register a newborn in Torrevieja for the first time at the same address as the benefit recipient;
  • have bank account to receive the amount;
  • have no tax liabilities to the Tax Office, the Social Security System and the Municipality of Torrevieja.

Who can request help

Assistance can be requested by official married couples, common-law couples and single-parent families, as well as persons who have a family book or a corresponding birth certificate.

In cases of annulment, separation or divorce, assistance will be paid to the parent who is awarded custody of the child.

In the case of joint custody, the benefit will be distributed equally between both parents.

How to apply

Applications are preferably submitted through the electronic portal of Torrevieja, using a special procedure called “Solicitud de ayudas por nacimiento” – “Application for assistance in connection with the birth of a child.”

You can also apply in person by completing forms available at Department of Social Security offices and submitting them to the PROP Registrar.

What documents need to be attached

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • a valid DNI ID or residence permit;
  • birth certificate issued by the Registrar’s Office or adoption decision;
  • certificate of ownership of a bank account;
  • in the absence of permission to check data – a certificate of registration at the place of residence, including the newborn;
  • statement of fulfillment of tax obligations and obligations to the social insurance system;
  • in appropriate cases, an agreement or court decision declaring the marriage void, separation or divorce.

Data regarding the municipal register and the fulfillment of obligations to the municipality will be verified by the city administration.

Assistance will be provided until the budget is exhausted

The City Hall of Torrevieja notes that assistance will be provided subject to compliance with established requirements and in a strict order of applications until the budget funds allocated for these purposes are exhausted.
