Alicante to grant €300 birth benefits to nearly 500 families

Alicante City Council has provisionally approved €300 birth grants for 497 families. This year, the municipal budget for the programme was doubled to €200,000.

The €149,100 allocation will cover eligible applications submitted in 2025 that could not be funded because the budget had run out. The remaining funds will be assigned to 2026 applications in order of submission. Applications that meet the requirements but are not funded this year will receive priority in 2027.

Who can receive the benefit

The grant is €300 for each child born or adopted. Applications are processed in order, subject to the programme’s eligibility rules. Applicants must be registered as residents of Alicante; foreign nationals may apply if they have legal residence in Spain.

  • The applicant must be at least 18 or a legally emancipated minor.
  • At least one parent must have been continuously registered as a resident of Alicante for at least four years.
  • The newborn must be registered in Alicante for the first time at the address of the person receiving the benefit.
  • The applicant must hold a bank account.
  • The applicant must be up to date with tax obligations to Spain’s Tax Agency (AEAT) and Alicante City Council, as well as with Social Security contributions.

Further details about the requirements and application process are available on the Alicante City Council’s official programme page.
