Transfer of a foreign student to a Spanish university
Admission to a Spanish university through academic transfer (Reconocimiento de creditos/equivalencia) is possible for students who are currently studying at a university in their home country. For such students, it is possible to enroll in a Spanish university without passing entrance exams. There is also no need to take language proficiency exams.
Admission to a Spanish university through an academic transfer from a non-European university involves an assessment of academic programs, a lengthy procedure for paperwork, re-crediting of disciplines and communication with the university’s dean’s office.
Transfer to a Spanish university is an individual service. This is due to the fact that each university puts forward its own requirements for a foreign student. In addition, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary assessment of academic programs if you decide on a university in Spain on your own.

Requirements for a student to enter a Spanish university through academic transfer
- full-time study at a university accredited by the Ministry of Education;
- the curriculum of a Russian university must coincide with the Spanish one (the required minimum for the similarity of programs is 30 credits: *in order to ensure student mobility, each academic discipline is assessed by a certain number of credits, which allows assessing the level of mastery of educational programs by students studying at different universities and issuing diplomas corresponding to the level of education and qualifications);
- pass at least 2 sessions at a Russian university (that is, complete 1 year) and not be a final year student;
- begin the translation process in November-December.
It is important to note that transferring to a public university in Spain is more difficult due to the limited number of student places. Private universities have more lenient requirements for foreign students: the main criteria for transfer are the similarity of curricula and the student’s academic performance.
