Juanfran Pérez Llorca, President of the Valencian Government, has announced 55 new measures covering areas including healthcare, education, infrastructure and taxation. The proposals include expanding support for rent and home purchases, introducing a zero social security contribution for self-employed workers, further reducing the regional portion of personal income tax (IRPF), and offering new tax deductions for hearing aids and veterinary expenses.
Young people feature prominently in Pérez Llorca’s proposals. The planned zero-contribution scheme for new self-employed workers would run for two years, extended to four years for young entrepreneurs. The agricultural sector is also set to receive €8 million to help bring 200 young people into the industry.
Support for first-time buyers and young drivers
The President also announced plans for a €1,000 grant to help cover notary and property registration costs when buying a first home. The grant would be available to people under 35. These expenses are estimated at between €1,300 and €1,900, so the €1,000 grant would cover more than half of the total.
Another support scheme is aimed at young people aged 18 to 24 and would help cover the cost of getting a driving licence. Those eligible could receive €300 towards driving-school courses and practical lessons.
According to the Spanish Consumers and Users Organisation (OCU), getting a driving licence in Spain “easily costs more than €1,200”. This includes driving-school enrolment, theory lessons, practical lessons and the fees payable to the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) to take the exams. Projects announced for Alicante province
For Alicante province, Pérez Llorca announced plans for a new hospital for patients requiring long-term care in the Vega Baja area, as well as renovation work at Doctor Balmis Hospital in Alicante and Torrevieja University Hospital.
He also backed plans to widen the CV-95 between Orihuela and Torrevieja and to move forward with the Elche Southern Ring Road project.
