This figure is 65.3%, which is much higher than the EU average (47.9%).<\/p>\n<h2>Where in the EU do most people live in apartments?<\/h2>\n<p>The share of the population living in apartments exceeds 60% in three more EU countries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Latvia (64.4%);<\/li>\n<li>Malta (63.1%);<\/li>\n<li>Estonia (60.6%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the following five countries this figure varies between 50-60%:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lithuania (59.5%);<\/li>\n<li>Germany (59.4%);<\/li>\n<li>Greece (59.4%);<\/li>\n<li>Italy (58.9%);<\/li>\n<li>Czech Republic (50.9%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where the majority of the population lives in separate houses<\/h2>\n<p>In the remaining EU member states, the majority of the population lives in single-family detached houses. The undisputed leader in this regard is Ireland (90.2%), with the EU average being 51.4%.
